As noted by Michael Cutler, the sister-in-law of Hizballah-linked fugitive Talal Chahine pled guilty today to fraudulently obtaining her citizenship, using her illegally acquired status to attain employment with both the FBI and CIA, and illegally using government computers to gather Hizballah-related intelligence.

In short, we are delivering a $700 billion (at least, as prices are still rising) to the following nations: Iran, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Venezuela. The implications are profound, and an orchestrated response by us is years away. My full blog is here.

Power Line: The "public secret" of Middle East Journalism

During my whirlwind tour of Israel this past summer I had the great good fortune of meeting Boston University Professor Richard Landes. Professor Landes has doggedly sought the exposure of fraudulent journalism out of the Middle East. He has pursued his quarry both at Second Draft (where he has specialized in Pallywood and the staged Al Dura affair) and at Augean Stables. Pajamas Media has now posted his excellent column summarizing the pervasive evidence of staging in the case of Al Dura and the reaction of France 2, the organ responsible for broadcasting the production.

Senator Joe Lieberman: News Release

Senator Joe Lieberman: News Release

Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Power Line: Bill Katz: Editor, edit thyself, part 1

The proper relationship of press to government is neutrality. The press should be neither for nor against government, but a vigorous inquirer into its affairs. The "adversarial relationship" leads to the "gotcha" game, the destruction of public officials as a career goal. That game has outlived the usefulness it never had. The public hates it. It erodes the credibility of the press every time viewers see it in a televised news conference. Journalists can give us the news without destroying the newsmaker.
