Charts: The tragic results of the 'Community Reinvestment Act': "A few well-connected Democrats including Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson and Jamie Gorelick -- all of whom were former Clinton administration officials -- received payments totaling as much as $200 million for six years of work leading the GSEs."

Michelle Malkin » Document drop: The story behind Change.gov: "Obama campaign’s request for a government domain originally denied because:

1) It would be a a violation of the government’s naming conventions (too generic); and

2) using ‘change’ in the domain name would be political, since it was the trademark slogan of the Obama campaign.

The day after the election, on Nov. 5, GSA Chief Information Officer Casey Coleman overruled Alterman after apparently receiving a waiver from Chris Lu, Executive Director of Obama’s Transition Project. As reader Lance discovered through his FOIA request, Ms. Coleman did not elaborate on the granting of this waiver except to say that she had “determined that it is in the best interest of the Federal Government to register the subject domain name.”"

Herb London : I Lost My Country - Townhall.com: "This was a land that once rewarded hard work and enterprise. A place where one’s word was his bond. America was the land of opportunity. We were a people to be envied, not only because we had the highest standard living, but because we had the greatest degree of stability."

General Motors now has a market valuation about a third of Bed, Bath & Beyond, and no one says your Swash 700 Elongated Biscuit Toilet Seat Bidet is too big to fail. GM has a market capitalization of about $2.4 billion. For purposes of comparison, Toyota's market cap is $100 billion and change (the change being bigger than the whole of GM). General Motors, like the other two geezers of the Old Three, is a vast retirement home with a small money-losing auto subsidiary. The UAW is AARP in an Edsel: It has three times as many retirees and widows as "workers" (I use the term loosely). GM has 96,000 employees but provides health benefits to a million people.

Hey, ho! U.S. out of Chicago!

Hey, ho! U.S. out of Chicago!

Pull out of Iraq?

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago!

Body count in the last six months:

* 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago
* 221 killed in Iraq

Chicago - who runs it?

Senators: Barack Obama and Dick Durbin
Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Illinois Governor: Rod Blogojevich
Illinois House leader: Mike Madigan
Illinois Attorney General: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Chicago Mayor: Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

...our leadership in Illinois: all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they're all blaming each other!

Can't blame Republicans. There aren't any!

State pension fund is $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax is 10.25%, the highest in the country. The Chicago school system is rated one of the worst in the country (despite the $160 million that Obama and terrorist Bill Ayers slathered around to various leftist causes during the Chicago Annenberg Challenge).

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us? Wake up America! We've already sacrificed Chicago!

LAT Falsely Claims Laura Bush Distancing Herself from Sarah Palin | NewsBusters.org

Recall, as I noted in the NewsBusters post "Media Freak Out Over Palin and Giuliani's ‘Community Organizer' Jabs" earlier today, that community organizing, in the sense that Obama, a Harvard-educated lawyer uses the term, is Saul Alinsky-style political organizing. It's not about church bake sales, picking up litter, little leagues, or parent-teacher associations. It's about agitation aimed at securing big chunks of government money and radical social change. It is not noble. It is radical left-wing activism. It is not community service. It's more like community destruction. Think Jesse Jackson. Think Al Sharpton. Think ACORN. Think Mother Jones.

The body armor controversy is heating up again. The military is being accused of malfeasance but I believe that certain manufacturers have been more successful at manufacturing controversy than body armor:

A Pentagon of Trouble

Inside the Ring - - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

Stephen Coughlin, the Pentagon specialist on Islamic law and Islamist extremism, has been fired from his position on the military's Joint Staff. The action followed a report in this space last week revealing opposition to his work for the military by pro-Muslim officials within the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England.
